Adventure Seeker Strikes First-Up At Goulburn

Lightly raced filly Adventure Seeker stamped herself as one to follow after breaking through for a well-deserved maiden victory at Goulburn on Tuesday. The Danielle Seib-trained three-year-old, resuming from a spell, justified her short odds with a dominant display in the Country Boosted Maiden Handicap (1300m).

A daughter of The Autumn Sun, Adventure Seeker arrived at the races off the back of a sharp trial win and duly delivered on that promise. Jockey Jean Van Overmeire ensured there were no hard-luck stories, bouncing the filly out cleanly to take up the lead. Hugging the rail in the early stages, Overmeire made a race-winning move on the home turn, shifting two off the fence to find the better going. The filly responded with a strong kick, putting the race to bed and drawing clear to score by 1.3 lengths.

Her victory continued a rich vein of form for Seib, who is striking at an impressive 19.8% this season and shaping up for a career-best year.

Adventure Seeker was secured privately by Seib and Champion Thoroughbreds from her breeder Zhongli Thoroughbreds, who were dispersing their stock at the time. That acquisition looks an astute one, with the filly's pedigree gaining further credibility since—her half-brother North England (Farnan) finished third in the Group 3 Breeders’ Plate on debut before claiming the Group 3 Golden Gift. Under the care of Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, North England is now firmly on a Golden Slipper path after bypassing the Inglis Millennium.
