Oaks Type Filly Purchased From Inglis Classic Sale- Day 1

Feb 8, 2026

Day 1 of the Inglis Classic Sale saw us join forces once again with Annabel and Rob Archibald to secure a standout Pierro filly, out of the Group 1 BRC Oaks–placed Tavistock mare Imperial Lass. She is a half-sister to the accomplished Straight Arron, a multiple Group 2 winner and Group 1 placegetter, and boasts a pedigree stacked with proven, consistent black-type performers.Offered through the respected Torryburn Stud draft, this filly rated among the very best we inspected at the sale. Physically, she is an impressive individual — blessed with a beautiful head, excellent length and scope, and an unflappable, professional temperament. A mid-November foal, she has plenty of natural improvement still to come, which only adds to her appeal. It’s little surprise she earned the nickname “Princess” among the Torryburn team.Lot 79 Pierro x Imperial Lass Filly BOBS ELIGIBLE INGLIS RACE SERIES ELIGIBLE INCLUDING $100K MAIDEN BONUS CLICK HERE to view her sales page.  Fun fact: the last time we teamed up with Annabel and Rob on a yearling purchase, the result was multiple stakes winner Lilac. We’re quietly hopeful lightning might strike twice with this exciting filly. For more information, contact racing@championthoroughbreds.com.au or contact Emma on 0404392680

Quick Back-Up Pays Off for Gutsy Sea Strike

Feb 2, 2026

It proved a shrewd piece of horsemanship from trainer Ben Brisbourne to back Sea Strike up in Saturday’s $40,000 Woodend Cup at Kyneton, just five days after the Sea The Stars gelding endured a luckless run at Wagga. Having his fourth start of the preparation, the five-year-old stayer was at peak fitness and that edge told late, as he outstayed the $1.90 favourite Luvya Mumma, who enjoyed a significant pull in the weights, conceding 6.5kg to the winner. Regular rider Lachlan King, who has now partnered Sea Strike in all four of his career victories from nine rides, was keen to press on after Wagga, where the gelding was never fully tested after being badly crowded in the straight. Confident the run had not taken its toll, Brisbourne kept a close watch on the gelding through the week and saw no reason not to roll the dice again. Slow into stride, Sea Strike was soon mustered into a handy position just behind the speed, travelling one off the fence. Conscious of the tight Kyneton circuit, King allowed the gelding to build momentum as the tempo lifted, and Sea Strike responded gamely when the pressure was applied. In a determined finish, he proved too strong, grinding his way past the odds-on favourite to score by a narrow but decisive 0.15 lengths. The victory pushed Sea Strike’s career earnings beyond $100,000, now accrued from just 14 starts, and was a deserved reward for connections: Mperezive Racing, Mr R K Sweeney, Mrs T R Sweeney, Mr G C Green, Mr D C Harrop, Mr D H Long, Castagna, Mr P J Dunn, Mr G Seto, Jabradtral, Mr C D Hands, Sedgewyn, Mr T S Fisher, Mr J G Codner, Dream Team, Dr M Healy, 2023 1in5 Club and Mr S Nagaratnam.

Day 1 Karaka Purchases

Jan 25, 2026

After narrowly missing out at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale, we were delighted to bounce back in New Zealand, securing two exciting yearlings from Day 1 of the Karaka Sale- including one of our standout colts of the entire sale, along with a sharp, precocious filly we felt represented terrific value.LOT 105 SATONO ALADDIN X SAYZZEL COLTPurchased with Waterhouse/Bott and Kestrel Thoroughbreds CLICK HERE to view his sales profile CLICK HERE to watch his sale paradeJason's Thoughts On This Colt: This Satono Aladdin colt was the standout for us as well as the Waterhouse / Bott team for Day 1, and is a real stallion prospect. He has 3 sires already on his female page with O’Reilly, Grunt, and Ocean Park. His dam is by Snitzel who is tracking enormously well as a broodmare sire, and will inject that bit of precocity and extra speed into his profile on the track. He is leggy, has a great shoulder, deep girth, and walks through with his hind legs perfectly. He is the right mix of masculinity and athleticism. We feel he should be a late 2yo and Spring 3yo with distances likely to be 1400m – 1600m – an architype for the Golden Rose / Caulfield Guineas races.CLICK HERE to register your interest in the Satono Aladdin x Sayzzel colt LOT 235 EXCEEDANCE X WITH ZEAL FILLY Purchased with Seib RacingBOBS Bonus   CLICK HERE to view her sales profile  CLICK HERE to watch her sale parade Jason's Thoughts On This Filly: I thought this filly by Exceedance out of a Snitzel mare was a likely get up and go 2yo type. She is a 1st August foal and has a heap of 2yo performers in her pedigree such as Pariah, Madeira Sunrise, Hallett, Cloister, Unison, Melito, and Across The Moon – all black type performers and all ran at 2! Exceedance is doing a good job at stud and his cross over Snitzel mares is 2 for 2 including a stakes placed runner! She has a lovely demeanour, kind eye, beautiful head, and plenty of depth to her girth in the engine room.At the price she is perfectly placed to head to Canberra. She is BOBS eligible and will be up and going within 12 months – hopefully we can bring her back across the ditch to compete in the Karaka Millions this time next year.  CLICK HERE to register your interest the Exceedance x With Zeal Filly

Voltage Lass Sizzles At Corowa For Second Career Win

Jan 4, 2026

Progressive Too Darn Hot filly Voltage Lass continued her rapid rise through the grades, notching her second career victory from just three starts with a dominant Class 2 success over 1000 metres at Corowa on Tuesday. The three-year-old, a commanding winner on debut at the Sapphire Coast, again showed her ability at Goulburn last start where she finished a narrow second after racing greenly and laying in under pressure in the straight. The addition of winkers proved the missing piece on this occasion, sharpening her focus and allowing her to put her rivals away by 1.7 lengths in slick time. Jockey Jake Duffy ensured there would be no excuses, taking advantage of a clean getaway to roll forward around the tight circuit. Once in front, Voltage Lass travelled strongly and was never seriously challenged, putting her more experienced opposition to the sword with authority. Trainer Danielle Seib was bullish post-race."This filly has more upside — I really feel she’s going to be better again in six months’ time," Seib said. Purchased for $50,000 from Book 2 of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Voltage Lass is shaping as a savvy acquisition. By champion sire Too Darn Hot, whose service fee now commands $275,000, she has already returned $46,550 in prizemoney and appears destined for bigger targets (and prizemoney). Champion Thoroughbreds will again be active at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale from January 13–18. Those interested in upcoming purchases are encouraged to register their interest via racing@championthoroughbreds.com.au.
