Wide Draws For Key Chances On Saturday

The team have three runners on Saturday and all have drawn wide barriers for their assignments. Kicking off proceedings is Hellbent gelding Hell I Am who is coming off a last start maiden win at Canterbury in heavy track conditions. He lines up in the 2YO Handicap over 1100m at Rosehill (Race 2) where he's drawn barrier 15. Hugh Bowman who partnered him last start sticks aboard and will be positive from the gate in a race that looks to have plenty of speed on paper.

The main chances in the race include the top weight Sweet Ride who will roll forward from barrier 11. He has won at the track and distance and is also Group 3 placed. The Gary Portelli trained Snitcat also holds her fair share of ability, placing 3rd in the Magic Millions 2YO classic behind Coolangatta and Russian Conquest in January.

Next up is Amarantz at Kembla Grange (Race 4). She's found herself in a suitable Fillies & Mares class 1 over 1400m where she's drawn barrier 8 in the field on 9 runners. Having her last crack at the BOBS Bonus before she turns 4, she looks well placed at the same track and distance where she was narrowly beaten in a photo finish last start. With the prospect of another wet track and NSW's leading jockey Ashley Morgan in the saddle, we expect her to be fighting out the finish.

The obvious danger is the Mark Newnham trained Silvakia (Reliable Man) who won on debut at Hawkebsury over 1300m. She's drawn well in barrier 5 and will carry 56.5kg with Koby Jennings aboard.

Last but certainly not least, Pizarro will run just 15 minutes after Amarantz at Rosehill (Race 6). He's drawn a frightful barrier and most speed maps have him at the tail of the field. He will need a good tempo to figure in the finish with Hugh Bowman given the task of navigating the bad draw. The race presents with plenty of chances including the top weight Kanazawa who has never finished out of the top 4 in his 7 career starts. He's a last start winner at Randwick over 1400m in heavy conditions and Godolphin have opted to utilise Reece Jones' 1.5kg claim bringing his weight to 58.5kg.

Best of luck to the connections of all three horses!
