We mean business! Three premier colts join quality 2019 crop of yearlings.

It’s been a happy hunting ground for the team at the 2019 Inglis Premier yearling sale in Melbourne with the addition of three colts to the stable this week. This sale has produced some of Australia’s best racetrack performers of the past 12 months including Group 1-winning two-year-olds Written By (Blue Diamond Stakes) and Seabrook (Champagne Stakes), four-time Group 1 winner Santa Ana Lane and exciting three-year-old colt Ringerdingding and the quality was no different this year.

Our first purchase on Day 1 was Lot 103- a strong colt by second season sire Toronado-two times Group 1 winner over a mile by High Chaparral, out of Group 3 winning mare Chabaud (Lookin at Lucky). Purchased from the Fernrigg Stud draft for $80,000, the colt was a real value purchase for John O'Shea who trained Sea Siren who features prominently in the pedigree. Sea Siren, a muliple Group 1 winner (BTC Cup, Manikato, Doomben Ten Thousand) is a three-quarter sister to Chabaud's dam Rockadubai (Fastnet Rock) who was stakes placed. He is the first foal out of Chabaud who is currently in foal to Newhaven Park Stud’s multiple group 1 winner Xtravagant.

Toronado’s progeny continue to prove popular amongst buyers with an average sale price of $114,077 from the 13 lots sold during book 1 at the premier sale.

Our second purchase came on Day 2 of the sale and it was a colt that John O'Shea had his eye on from very early on. Lot 222 is a striking grey by super sire I Am Invincible, out of Al Maher mare Icy Mist- a 3 times winner from 1200m-1600m. Icy Mist is a three-quarter sister to stakes performers Snow Beauty & Minnie Mah and a half-sister to Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed Courvoisier.

I Am Invincible needs little introduction, he was crowned Australia's leading first season sire in 2013/14 and is currently sitting second on the general sires and second season sires table behind Snitzel. He has produced the likes of Group 1 winners Brazen Beau, Viddora, I Am A Star, Oohood and Hellbent to name a few.

"This is a genuine stallion prospect. He is by one of Australia's best sire's in I Am Invincible and this colt emulates the quality of his progeny. I am so pleased that we have been able to secure him and that he'll be in my stable" commented trainer John O'Shea after the sale.

I Am Invincible continues to dominate the sales ring, averaging $301,875 for the 8 lots sold in book 1 of the sale.

Our final purchase was on the final day of the book 1 session and this colt was a must-have for Champion Director Jason Abrahams. Lot 506 from the Maluka Thoroughbreds Draft was a beautiful son of Tavistock out of O'Reilly mare Tricia'o- a two times winner of 1600m and 2100m.

Tricia'o is a half-sister to La Sizeranne, a multiple group winner and Group 1 placegetter. This colt is from the family of Group 1 ATC Derby winner Tavago- also by Tavistock. He's the second foal out of Tricia'o who was served by Australia's leading sire Snitzel last year.

"I love this colt! After we bought him we had a lot of people compliment us on the purchase because he was on a lot of buyer's shortlists. He's got a wonderful attitude, he's from a good farm and by an outstanding sire, Tavistock." Abrahams commented.
