Two Key Runners Head To Hawkesbury

Hawkesbury will host two key Champion runners on Thursday. Kicking off proceedings in the first race is promising stayer Lion's Roar. The 3YO son of Contributer is second-up after a solid 2nd placing at Newcastle behind Mo'unga- current favourite for the Spring Champion Stakes. Lion's Roar tackles the Class 1 over a mile and the step up in trip is a big positive off the last start run over 1400m. He is currently second favourite behind the Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou strained Game Theory who won well on the Kensington track last start over 1300m. Lion's Roar gets the services of top hoop Tommy Berry on Thursday and should get a nice run on speed from the inside draw. The rain affected going won't be an issue having won on debut at Wagga on a Heavy 9.

It'll be a nervous wait until Race 4 for the connections of Class Act who is coming off a long break. The big questions is, which version of Class Act will show up? The 4YO daughter of Not A Single Doubt has been a work in progress for the O'Shea yard with barriers being her main issue. Her recent trial was super and if she brings that performance to the races, she give a sight at the $14. Rachel King who rode her in the trial will partner her on race day. She's not short on ability but will need to execute well from barrier 1.

Best of luck to the connections of both horses!
