Trio Of Runners On Cup Day

It's the busiest day of the racing calendar and Champion will be represented by three runners on Melbourne Cup day this Tuesday. The team has two runners at the Doomben meeting in Queensland with Creative Moss (Mossman x Creative Chance) the first to kick off the proceedings in Race 2 at 12:07pm. She's stepping up to 1650m for the first time after two promising runs over 1350m. "I'm very happy with how Creative Moss is heading into the run and from the nice draw, I expect her to be right in the finish" trainer Bryan Guy commented when the acceptances were released.

Knock Toff (Toorak Toff x Shoptalk) is looking to bounce back in the Race 5 (2:55pm) which is a Class 2 over 1200m following a disappointing run last start over 1000m. He's a genuine on pace runner and just found them a little too sharp with the blinkers off at Ipswich a fortnight ago. His work has been good leading into Tuesday's race and we expect him to at least finish in the placings.

Senior jockey Mark Du Plessis will take the ride on both horses at Doomben on Tuesday.

Rounding out the day is Southern Lad (Ocean Park x Distinctive Lass) at Randwick in race 7 @ 4:25pm the Heineken 3 Handicap over 1200m. The 4YO gelding is coming off a first-up win at Wyong on October 11th over 1100m and has since had a quiet trial to keep him ticking over. Southern Lad has had just 3 career starts for two wins, breaking his maiden at Canterbury in impressive fashion last preparation before being sidelined with a slight injury. He has drawn the outside gate in the field of 15 runners which will likely see him adapt his usual pattern of getting back and running home. Jason Collett will jump aboard after trialing Southern Lad at Randwick last Tuesday.

Best of luck to the connections of all three horses.
