Toronado; A Sire On Fire!

We are constantly reporting on the success of Toronado’s progeny…which is fantastic as we have a cracking Toronado colt in our stable!

After two winners last week, Toronado has kicked off this week with his 4th Stakes winner in Europe and then delivered two more impressive winners in Australia. It is evident that the success he is having in Europe is being reproduced here in Australia.

Toronado sired Affair To Remember, a 3 year-old filly out of the Black Hawk mare, St Trinians. She had a win at Geelong on Sunday 1st September, in the Bet365 Maiden Plate over 1300 metres.

Toronado then chimed in with another stakes winner in Germany, on Sunday September 1st, where Wasmya scored an impressive Black Type win.

Yesterday, Backpedal, a 3 year-old filly by Dual Group 1 world winning champion, Toronado, out of the More Than Ready mare, Voltara, won over 1000m Maiden Plate at Ballarat.

Purchased from the 2018 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for $120,000, Backpedal, a cracking 3YO filly broke her maiden and the track record in emphatic fashion winning by 8 lengths, moving away and “winning by a minute” stating the commentator, and in doing so beating a well bred I Am Invincible gelding and the favourite, Kamien.

Backpedal is nominated for the 1000 Guineas and is one to watch as she, like all of the winning Toronado progeny, is very much “stamped” by their sire and is reproducing his speed.

The time is right to take a share in our Toronado. He really is an impressive animal with plenty to like about him. He has a great shoulder and hindquarter. He is relaxed in his work, rests his beautiful head on his chest and canters around the track like he owns the place.

If you want a well-bred colt out of a stakes winning mare, by Toronado, who is taking all before him, then this colt demands your attention. See him at Randwick very shortly! Please contact neill@championthoroughbreds.com.au

Enamour's Lucky Shoes

Sometimes stories just like this make you smile... While chatting to his dad, Dave, young Lachlan O’Neill, stated that he was a bit down on his luck. Now Dave and his wife Elizabeth, who own shares in Bonita Bella, Enamour, The Champion One in Five Club and Mai Time, decided that their beloved young offspring needed a little help. So ever the thinker, Dave, contacted us and asked for four used horseshoes that they could give to Lachlan to top up his “Luck Account”.
