Progressive Stayers Kembla Grange Bound

Two progressive 3 year old staying types head to Kembla Grange on Saturday and both look to be good winning chances. 3YO Tavistock colt SOCRATES will be out to break his maiden when he lines up in Race 5 a maiden plate over 1600m. He's drawn to get a lovely run from barrier 2 with Chad Lever maintaining the ride after partnering him in his debut at Newcastle when running 4th. He'll need to beat the Godolphin trained Amulet Street who has drawn to his inside and has finished second at all 3 career starts.

Lion's Roar who was scratched from Hawkesbury on Thursday, will contest in the BM64 over 1600m (Race 6). John O'Shea opted to run the 3YO at Kembla Grange due to the Heavy conditions at Hawkesbury's meeting. Mitchell Bell will jump aboard for the first time from barrier 6 in the field of 11 runners. The top weight Aoraki looks the one to beat from the Team Hawkes stable although it'll carry 60.5kg but will get a soft run from barrier 2. Lion's Roar is second-up after a very nice effort at Newcastle 3 weeks ago over 1400m when finishing 2nd to the promising Mo'unga.

Best of luck to the connections of both horses, they look set to run big races.
