Lion's Roar Tackles Hobartville Stakes First-up

Promising three year old gelding Lion's Roar kicks off his autumn campaign on Saturday in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes over 1400m. The race has produced a field of 13 quality runners under the set weight conditions. Headlining the field is the unbeaten kiwi galloper Aegon (Sacred Falls) who won the Group 1 NZ Guineas last year followed with a victory in the Karaka Millions 3YO race in January.

The quality doesn't stop there with the likes of Peltzer drawing well in barrier 5, he's got race fitness on his side with a win in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince first-up. Group 1 Golden Rose runner-up North Pacific is also second-up in the race as is Prague who also comes off a placing in the Eskimo Prince.

Lion's Roar has been prepared for Saturday's assignment with two nice trial efforts against group class horses, indicating he's ready to pick up where he left off after finishing runner-up to Montefilia in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes last preparation. The son of Contributer has never finished worst than 2nd in his 5 career starts- already earning his connections close to $250,000 in prizemoney.

He maps to get a lovely run from barrier 3 with Brenton Avdulla maintaining the ride after partnering him in the Spring Champion Stakes last preparation. He'll be doing his best work late over the 1400m as he looks towards the Randwick Guineas second-up.
