Hard Ruler Vies For Black Type In Listed Taj Rossi Stakes On Saturday

This week we have an exciting runner for Champion Thoroughbreds Victoria with our filly Hard Ruler taking her place in a Listed Race at Flemington.

Hard Ruler, a 2yo daughter of All Too Hard will run in the Listed Taj Rossi Series Final over 1600 metres. The race is bound to be highly competitive with boom undefeated galloper Royal Symphony a hot favourite on the back of a massive win at Flemington at his last run and big raps on his ability from trainer Tony McEvoy.

Hard Ruler comes into the race off a strong maiden win at Sale where the filly really excelled over the mile trip. On Saturday Hard Ruler has drawn nicely in barrier 1 where she should get a nice run. Our trainer Mick Price likes the filly and feels she can run a good race. “She is a staying type who we are hoping can run in the first 4 and win some valuable blacktype,” said Price. “There are some nice horses in the race but she should get the run of the race and hopefully will finish the race off strongly.”

Hard Ruler’s sire All Too Hard was a star galloper who was a dual Group 2 winner as a 2yo and trained on to win 4 x G1’s as a 3yo including the Caulfield Guineas and also ran 2nd in the time honoured Cox Plate. A beautifully pedigreed horse, All Too Hard is a half-brother to the immortal Black Caviar and also from the family of star gallopers Scandinavia and Magnus.

At stud All Too Hard has started in promising fashion siring 9 individual winners already from his first crop headed by stakes winner Curdled as well as the stakes placed duo Mystic Empire and All Too Huiying. All Too Hard stands at one of the finest farms in the country, Vinery Stud, who offered Hard Ruler at the 2016 William Inglis Premier Sale where she was purchased for $140,000. Vinery Stud retained an interest in Hard Ruler and bred the filly who is out of the More Than Ready mare Legislature.

Legislature was a solid filly who excelled at 1600-1950m and registered a stakes placing in the Laelia Stakes and Auraria Stakes in Sth Australia. It is hoped that Hard Ruler can continue to develop at three and we expect her to eventually make a nice autumn 3yo. Saturday will be tough but you have to be in it to win it and we will be hoping for a strong performance.
