Conditions To Suit Opacity At Randwick On Saturday

Opacity is due for a change of luck and Wednesday's barrier draw could be an indication that the change is on it's way. He lines up in the Racing To Win Open Handicap over 1600m at Randwick on Saturday where he maps to get a nice run from barrier 4 in the field of 13 runners with in-form apprentice Reece Jones claiming down to the very light weight of 51kg. Another positive for the 4YO son of Ocean Park is the prospect of 20-40ml of rain leading into Saturday which will certainly help his chances.

Rated an $11 chance, Opacity will need to turn the tables on stablemate Kirwan's Lane who won the BM88 over 1500m at Rosehill when Opacity finished 7th. Opacity was forced too far back from a wide draw and was doing his best work late. Opacity will carry 3kg less than Kirwan's Lane in Saturday's race which is a decent swing on the half a kilo more that he carried last start. Other chances in the race include Brutality (Joe Pride) who has drawn barrier 1 with 54kg. He's coming off a last start 3rd in an Open Handicap over 1400m at Randwick. Prior to that, he finished a close 3rd in The Coast over 1600m behind Brandenburg and Nudge. The Chris Waller trained Order Again will appreciate a wet track and his 3rd placing last start in the Scone Cup is more than sufficient to be in the mix on Saturday.

Best of luck to his connections!
