Champion Celebrate 10 Years In Style

Despite being a very windy evening, in Sydney, on Saturday night a good 130-strong group, of past and present owners, assembled at The Museum of Contemporary Art to celebrate 10 years since Champion Thoroughbreds was established.

The band struck up a few tunes, the human statues didn’t move a muscle, hos d’oeuvres circulated and the wine and champagne flowed. Meantime those who had purchased a 5% or greater share in any horse from this years yearlings eagerly awaited the draw for the free 5% share in the cracking Scissor Kick / Iguana Jo Colt. This prize comes with 2 years free training.

Fueled by the replays on the big screen of some of Champions’ winners over the past 10 years the excitement rose and at 8.30 Managing Director, Jason Abrahams, took to the microphone. He explained to the audience how champion Thoroughbreds got started and expressed his thanks to everyone for their support and input making it an amazing 10 years.

Jason passed the microphone to John O’Shea who reiterated Jason sentiments and thanked everyone for their support in an industry that inherently has as many high times as low times.

The time had arrived and Emma Guymer, who organized the wonderful event, drew the winner of the Scissor Kick competition…and the winner is…Mr Roland Yap. The crowd applauded as Roland came to the front of the room to receive his prize. Roland and his wife, Suzie, had just flown in from China only 2 hours before the event. I suspect they were happy to have done so.

Roland has shares in our 3-year-old Zoustar filly Bizou. He has also purchased (with his brother Wayne Sun) a large percentage of the Press Statement ex Thinking Of You filly, who recently completed and passed, her first jump out and induction with flying colours.

Roland, who races 7 horses in Europe, was delighted to win the free share in the Scissor Kick colt. He commented that he was a lovely looking type and the dam was certainly an good producer and he was extremely excited about his future.

The Scissor Kick colt is out of Iguana Jo making him the three-quarter brother to our very own Group 3 winning mare AMMIRATA (Nadeem) and half-brother to stakes place getter and city winner ISLAND MISSILE (Smart Missile).

We still have a few shares left in him and if you are interested in taking an interest in this cracking colt please contact Neill on 0430168960

The Lads That Look Like Their Dads

I inspected our Contributer ex Minnaleo colt and our Toronadoex ex Chabaud  colt. I was pleased to see how well they were doing.  Both colts really impressed me being such terrific physical types and what really stood out is how much they are looking like their sires.
