Broadside Armour Steps Up to the Mile on Wednesday at Wyong

4yo Helmet gelding, Broadside Armour is third up on Wednesday and he should find his way to the front few in the run as he gets up to 1600m for the first time this preparation.

Our beautiful looking gelding takes his place in Race 5 on Wednesday at Wyong which is due to jump at 4.20pm. He has drawn an outside gate (11) however, we plan to let him roll across and potentially sit outside the lead if possible, with Rachel King steering the ship! Being a Benchmark 64 he is well placed but does find himself carrying 60kg, however we are hopeful that a good ride from Rachel will offset the weight.

Since winning on debut at Warwick Farm, Broadside Armour has been beset with minor issues that have constantly prevented him from reaching his full potential. Trainer John O'Shea though believes that the stable has got on top of the diagnosable issues and thinks Wednesday looks ideal for his charge. "He is a lovely animal and his work has been very good leading into this week's event. He was accepted for Friday at Canterbury in a BM 72 but the tempo looked quick on paper, and from an outside gate there, he was going to do a lot of work and probably not find a good spot in the run. It wasn't an ideal map for him and we need to hit the target, so we opted to wait for Wednesday's event. It is a BM64, so back to a lower grade and up in weight a bit, but he's a big lump of a thing so that shouldn't bring about his undoing. We want to see a strong positive performance from him which he is more than capable of, given the way he works in the mornings" O'Shea said.

Best of luck to connections and let's cheer the boy home come Wednesday!
