Broadside Armour Kicks Off Career With City Win

It was the perfect start to Broadside Armour's career when he made his debut at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. The 3YO son of Helmet trialed well on two occasions leading into the race and he proved too good for his maiden rivals over the trip of 1400m.

Jockey Brenton Avdulla said the future looks bright for Broadside Armour following the win "This horse gave me plenty of confidence the other day in his trial and i was sure he would run well. He is a nice horse going forward, he's still a long way off where he is going to be"

Trainer John O'Shea also agreed with Avdulla's post-race thoughts commenting "this horse has a really bright future, he is still very green and learning what it is all about. He is quite a talent and I think once he has learned his craft he is going to have plenty to offer."

Broadside Armour was purchased from the 2018 Magic Millions yearling sale for $60,000 from the Tartan Fields Stud Draft. In fact, he was John O'Shea and Champion Thoroughbreds' first purchase when John returned to public training after 3 years as head trainer for Godolphin. The stable has kicked off the new year in good fashion with 10 winners and 4 placings from just 18 runners.

Congratulations to his big team of owners Mr J N Allen, Mr S A Miller, Mrs L Miller, Mr W P Kemp, Mr C A Kemp, Mr D G Chivas, Mr K Hemsworth, Mr M T Brown, Mr J D Kennedy, Mr S M Ross, Mr M N Roberts, Mr G B Lamont, Mr J C Broadbent, Mr F Broadbent, Mr V Musgrave, Mr D Scott, Vatican, Mr D W Higginbotham, Mr E Rawling, Mr P R Scott
