Atlantic Edge Makes It Back To Back Wins With Victory At Cessnock

They say it is hard for horses to win at their next start stepping out of maiden grade but that wasn't the case for tough little mare Atlantic Edge at Cessnock on Monday. The 4 year old Fastnet Rock mare was coming off a last start win at Mudgee where she smashed her rivals by nearly 4 lengths over the 1500m. Two weeks later she was at it again, jumping cleanly from barrier 2 and taking up an easy lead with regular hoop Andrew Gibbons in the saddle. She was challenged coming around the home turn but pinned her ears back and fought to the line to defeat her opponents by 0.3L.

The writing was on the wall for Atlantic Edge earlier in the day when the runner up in her Mudgee Maiden win, Secret Mistress(Scott Singleton) went on to win the race before at Cessnock. Trainer Kris Lees has placed her to perfection and felt Tuesday's race was a good opportunity for her to return to winner's circle again. Atlantic Edge recorded her second win from just 8 starts and looks to have a good deal of upside. She was purchased by Champion Director Jason Abrahams from Ireland and imported to Australia in 2015 and was syndicated to a big group of loyal owners. Congratulations to Mr B Warren-Smith, Mr A P Ward, Mr P Baker, Ms K M Baker, Mrs S Harris, Mr M Mcintyre, Mr C Hodgkinson, Mr D J Gibson, Mrs A Gibson, Mr D Warren-Smith, Mr R J Cox, Mrs J L Cox, Ms K Mcdougall, Mrs D L Fisher, Mrs K R Baker, Mr G Seto, Mr J N Allen and the Vatican Syndicate!

Let's hope there is many more!
