Atlantic Edge A Maiden No More After Strong Win


Four year old Fastnet Rock mare Atlantic Edge has rid her maiden status with a strong win over 1500m at Mudgee on Sunday. The Irish import was positive from barrier 13 (lucky for some) to settle comfortably in the lead. She travelled well around the home turn and gave an almighty kick to go on and win by 3 lengths with Andrew Gibbons in the saddle. Andrew has partnered the mare in 5 of her 7 career starts and rated her well in front.

Atlantic Edge has been around the mark this preparation after notching up two 4th placings and a 2nd at Tamworth on May 6th. Hopefully she can gain some confidence from the win and potentially step up to some staying distances which her pedigree suggests she'll appreciate. Her half brother, Master Carpenter (Mastercraftsman) has had 6 wins between 1000m-2100m including a victory in the Group 3 Chantilly Prix Daphnis in France.

Atlantic Edge was purchased from Ireland and imported to Australia in 2015 where she was syndicated to a big group of loyal owners.
