We’ve seen very few colts this year that are as exciting as this Champion Thoroughbreds purchase. By the dominant Australian sire of his era, he is half-brother to a current two-year-old stakes winner and graded stakes performer, and from a wonderful international family.

He is by Danehill’s son, Redoute’s Choice, a three-time Champion Sire, and already an outstanding sire of sires. To date, Redoute’s Choice has sired no less than 127 stakes winners, 81 of them graded stakes winners, and 27 of them grade one winners. They include such wonderful runners as Champion Sprinter Lankan Rupee; Miss Finland and Stratum, both of whom included the Golden Slipper (gr. I) amongst their victories; as well as Samantha Miss, Fashions Afield, Melito, Loteria, Snitzel, Gallica, Nadeem, Royal Descent and Anamato, to name just a few. For a stallion who is himself still at stud, Redoute’s Choice’s record as a sire of sires is extraordinary. Seventeen of his sons have sired stakes winners, and eight have sired grade one winners, including Snitzel, Not A Single Doubt, and Champion First and Second Season Sire, Stratum.

This colt is half-brother to current two-year-old Sassy ‘n’ Smart, who is by a grandson of Redoute’s Choice’s sire, Danehill. In his first two three starts, Sassy ‘n’ Smart has won two races, including the CJC Welcome Stakes, and was beaten just a nose in the Matamata Breeders’ Stakes (gr. II). The dam, Panorama Ridge, is a superbly-bred daughter of two classic winners. Her sire, Empire Maker, is not only an outstanding racehorse and sire, but is also grandsire of the 2015 U.S. Triple Crown winner American Pharoah. Her dam, Nebraska Tornado, a daughter of the great sire, Storm Cat, captured the Prix de Diana – the French Oaks (gr. I) – and defeated colts in the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (gr. I).

Nebraska Tornado is also half-sister to group two winning and grade one placed Burning Son – by Redoute’s Choice’s grandsire, Danzig – and to graded stakes winning and group one placed Mirabilis. Nebraska Tornado’s dam, Media Nox was a group winner in France and a graded stakes winner in the U.S. She is half-sister to group two winner Bonash (the dam of group winners Day Flight and Sense of Joy, and granddam of group winning and group one placed Phoenix Tower), and to Love the Rain, the granddam of Excess Knowledge, winner this season of the VRC Lexus Stakes (gr. III) and ATC Doncaster Mile Prelude (gr. III).

This colt is bred on a similar Redoute’s Choice/Unbridled cross to Spring Champion Stakes (gr. I) winner Hampton Court, and graded scorer Aussies Love Sport, and broader Danehill/Fappiano cross has already produced 18 stakes winners, including other grade one scorers Mentality and Samindar.
